Advanced Placement (AP) Prep Program

Helping Your High Schooler Earn College Credit — Before Graduation

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are college-level classes offered in high school through the College Board. At the end of each course, students take a standardized AP exam scored on a scale of 1–5. A score of 3 or higher is widely accepted by colleges and universities for course credit or advanced placement — potentially saving your family thousands of dollars in tuition and helping your student graduate earlier.

AP courses are academically demanding. Many students who are strong in school still benefit from supplemental tutoring to master the depth of content, practice exam-style questions, and build the test-taking strategies that AP exams require. That's where Ramana Learning Center comes in.

Why Choose RLC for AP Prep?

  • Subject-specific instruction — Our tutors know the AP curriculum, College Board scoring rubrics, and exam format for each subject.
  • Flexible formats — Private 1-on-1 sessions or small group lessons tailored to your student's schedule and learning pace.
  • Exam-focused strategy — Practice with real AP-style free-response questions, multiple-choice techniques, and time management skills.
  • Works alongside school — Our tutoring supplements your student's AP class; we reinforce what they're already learning and fill gaps quickly.
  • Multiple subjects covered — Whether your student is taking one AP or several, we can support them across Math, Science, Computer Science, and Humanities.

Frequently Asked Questions About AP Prep

What grade levels is this program for?

This program is designed for high school students (Grades 9–12) who are currently enrolled in or planning to take AP courses at their school. Some advanced middle school students taking high school AP courses may also be eligible — contact your nearest branch for guidance.

My child is already taking the AP class at school. Do they still need tutoring?

Many students taking AP classes in school still benefit from tutoring. AP courses move quickly, and our tutors provide focused reinforcement, fill knowledge gaps, and add exam-specific strategies that school instruction alone may not cover. Students who supplement with tutoring tend to feel more confident and prepared on exam day.

Can my child join mid-year?

Yes. Students can join at any point during the school year. Our tutors will conduct an initial assessment to understand where your child is and build a personalized plan to get them on track before the May exams.

Is tutoring available for multiple AP subjects at once?

Yes. If your child is taking multiple AP courses, we can support them across subjects simultaneously. Sessions can be scheduled on different days for each subject based on availability.

What score does my child need to earn college credit?

AP exams are scored 1–5. Most colleges accept a score of 3 or higher for credit or advanced standing, though competitive universities may require a 4 or 5 for certain subjects. Credit policies vary by institution — check with each college your child is considering.
